Dr. Jennifer Elfert

Audiologist

Audiologists evaluate and treat hearing loss, tinnitus, balance, and related disorders. They also recommend and provide appropriate treatment, including hearing aids, audiologic rehabilitation, and hearing-assistive technology. As an audiologist certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and American Academy of Audiology, Dr. Jennifer Elfert is licensed in both NJ and NY. Her areas of specialty include the assessment and treatment of hearing disorders and tinnitus. Dr. Jen’s educational background includes Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Hofstra University and a Doctor of Audiology Degree from the University of Florida. She started out practicing at a well-known ENT office on the Upper East Side. After moving to New Jersey, Dr. Jen began working in a private practice in Englewood, and later joined JFK’s Neuroscience Center in Edison, where she fine-tuned her skills evaluating balance disorders. From there, she joined Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, where she stayed until opening her practice here in Howell, New Jersey.

Dr. Jen has a particular interest in the rehabilitation of hearing loss, a subject about which she taught for a number of years as an adjunct professor at Yeshiva University’s Stern College for Women in New York City. Other areas of interest include tinnitus and balance disorders.

Tinnitus has been a focus in her career since graduate school. There are very few professionals that take the time and understand the mechanism behind tinnitus and provide patients with ways to take control back from the tinnitus. Dr. Jen is always staying at the forefront of new tinnitus treatments and is delighted to be the first provider in New Jersey for the Lenire tinnitus treatment and Tinearity.

As a practicing audiologist, Dr. Jen takes special pride in listening to what her patients have to say. A positive doctor-patient relationship is a partnership, and when it comes to the treatment of hearing disorders, that makes all the difference.

My career began in Ukraine, where I graduated from a Pedagogical University as a teacher for children with hearing impairments. Working with little ones and seeing the joy of their progress brought immense satisfaction and shaped my lifelong dedication to helping people hear better.

After moving to the United States, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and worked as a financial analyst for several years. Although I enjoyed the challenge, I always felt a strong pull to return to work that directly impacted the lives of individuals with hearing difficulties.

That passion was reignited when I met Dr. Jennifer Elfert, who inspired me to pursue a career as a hearing aid dispenser. I trained under Dr. Elfert while completing my licensing requirements, and in 2016, she welcomed me to the team at NJ Hearing and Tinnitus Center. For almost 10 years, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with her and our patients.

Patient care is my top priority, and I am proud that my work is recognized not only through improved hearing but also in the trust and gratitude of our patients. I especially enjoy challenging fittings and the rewarding moment of seeing how dramatically hearing improvement can change someone’s life.

Helping people and doing good has always been my calling, and I feel truly fortunate to live that every day through my work.
